The Mystery Thing Revealed: Theater In The Round

Today I am going to reveal the answer to this week's Guess The Mystery Thing challenge, yay!  Here's another look at the mysterious jewels in question:

Hmm.  Think you can identify that little round platform?  Did anybody get it right?  Read on to find out!

First, Mich's Honor Roll Of Most Creative (Totally Wrong) Guesses:

Lisa: The spools from inside an old cassette tape.
Dena: You stole the stages from theaters in the round all over Lilliput.  Shame!
Shannon: A cushion for Barbie's love seat?
Amy: If it's not a dental floss spool, I think Barbie took a dive from her Unicycle and lost her teeth and never needed to use floss again.
Betsy: A plastic pulley used on the weight lifting machines in the troll gym.
Squarefeet: Part of a tiny alien space sewing machine.
Anne PThe stool tops from Papa and Mama Smurf's bar stools, but of course they don't drink and don't need them, so you are welcome to them.

Such excellent suggestions...strangely, not correct.

Ready for the answer?

Seems that most people were certain it's a dental floss spool.  (It's not.)  Man!  I have been collecting those for years, planning and plotting that one day they would become a Mystery Thing.  Now that's ruined!  I will never floss again.  Because what's the point?

Just kidding.

Kids, be sure to floss!

This scrolldown is getting off the point, isn't it?  Hee hee.

I will also tell you, while I have you on tenterhooks, that NOBODY got the exact right answer.  But somebody came respectably close.

So what is it?

It's...this!

A screen door track wheel.  It's my first hardware store Mystery Thing in months, and I can't promise I won't be doing another one soon.  Stay on your toes, people!

Winners, winners!  I am giving the win to Michele who guessed drawer rollers,  since it's almost exactly the same type of wheel.  Whoohoo, Michele!  And our glamorous runner up, chosen by random.org:  Shannon!  Congrats to you both, look for my email coming soon.

Thanks a bunchabuncha BUNCH for playing, you guys!  See you back here next time, for some more upcycling fun.

  2. Very cool. Maybe we can make our own floss roller or drawer roller jewelry with your creative encouragement. I recognize the red spray flowers from another mystery thing, How do you store all this stuff???? Last weekend I went to Lowes and looked at the merchandise with new eyes. I bought some brass bulk chain which i may use as is, or put a ribbon through it. The telephone wire colors,,I want them all. Anything that was colorful with a hole (or easy to make a hole) caught my attention. Then I went to the paint sections to use some paint samples as bookmarks. My husband was waiting for me this time.
