Eco-Friendly, Drink Mix Container Cuff Bracelet

Do you save those great new powdered drink containers?  You know, the kind Crystal Light and other brands come in, with the flattened oval shape?

Try a super simple, eco-conscientious cuff bracelet, made by cutting slices from that uniquely-contoured box.

Here comes the easy, fun, kid-friendly DIY...

Start by cutting a slice from the container.  If you like, add wavy edges.

Use anything sharp to poke two holes - the plastic is very soft and easy to puncture.  Try a pushpin, skewer or pointy scissors.

Use string to thread on a faux flower and a button, then tie a bow in the center.  Like so:

You can get three to five bracelets from one container, depending on the width.  Now that's a thrifty craft!  This would be so much fun for a tween crafting party or sleepover.  And for grownup ladies, how about whole bunch of practically free flower corsages, for an eco-friendly bridal shower or summer event?

Hope you enjoyed...see you back here again soon.

    1. Hi, Sakura - That's a photo of the bracelet after I sandpapered it. You can see the surface is all roughed up. If you sandpaper the smooth plastic, you can use a Sharpie and the ink won't rub off.

I used scissors - the plastic is really soft and easy to cut, and I think you have more control with scissors than with a craft knife.

      Hope that helps!

    2. Thank you! I know I'm going to be making these tomorrow. I don't even have a craft knife...well...Hey! Maybe I could leave the cuff without a sewed object, but.....somehow...attach different items for "killing 2 (in this case, many more) birds with one stone...." more like one cuff..... Well then! *ahem* Thank you! You are so creative, and I'm looking forward to future posts!

  8. Lovely idea and very kid friendly. Not so keen on letting kids use a craft knife especially when they don't have much control over it when doing the cutting!

  10. Darn it, that's clever. Yay for recycling those containers into something so pretty, eh? Love the corsage idea too. I'll have to remember that for the next wedding I attend...

  11. I've been keeping my empty containers even though I had no idea what on earth I was going to do with them. Now I have lots of ideas. The bracelet is super and my favorite is the tiny container using the container top and bottom. Thanks for the ideas.
