Guess The Mystery Thing: Invisible Dragonflies

Hi!  As many of you know, for years I have been doing Guess The Mystery Thing challenges - the game where  readers try to identify the secret ingredient in an upcycled jewelry design.  It has always included a giveaway element in the form of jewelry prizes for two (or more) winners.

Well, I am changing it up!  Postage costs are currently ridiculous, especially to faraway lands where many of my most beloved players reside.  As I don't earn any income from this blog - and I don't wish to make it a U.S. only scenario - I'm gonna revise the game.  From this moment forward, Guess The Mystery Thing will be played the same as always, but winners will receive PRESTIGE ONLY.

Let the game begin!  Take a gander at these little cuties.

Your challenge: identify the original source of the translucent insect bodies.

What are those skinny, blobby li'l things?  Note the perfect little bend of the tail - that's part of the original object, too.  Cool, eh?

Please leave your guess in the comments.  First correct guesser will be named in the reveal post, lauded and celebrated as a god.  Held up as a model of brilliance and perspicacity to be admired by all.

Feel free to embellish reality.  If your guess is funny, it might make my Most Creative Honor Roll!

Ready?  Set!  Guess The Mystery Thing!

UPDATE: THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED - THANKS FOR PLAYING, ALL!   TO SEE THE FUN REVEAL, CLICK RIGHT HERE.

  1. Hey Meshell. I feel like I should know this one! And these little guys are just too fun. Maybe you could say international has to pay shipping? Just a thought and I would gladly pay shipping anyways...

  3. It looks like one of those clips used to keep a shirt folded together for packaging or holds a pair of socks together.

  6. Well, you found the perfect use for it. Something makes me want to say it's the spine from a little notebook.

  9. I am So glad you're back. Missed You! Too bad real life takes over the Fun Stuff. In Smurf Village, space is precious. These are Smurf hangers that Tailor Smurf invented. The hook goes over the clothing rod and his fellow Smurfs can slip a hanger of his mini clothing into each slot. What a Space Saver in their closets!
