Tiny Metal Coil Earrings

Today's tutorial: these sweet little earrings.

Made from inexpensive (cheep-cheep!) stretchy-coil bracelets like these.

In my last post, I showed you how to turn these coil bracelets into scribble necklaces...

Now learn the simple secret of the complementary earrings.

You can make them in five minutes or less - my favorite kind of project! Here comes the wildly easy DIY...

Each dangle consists of just two things.  1. a large jump ring, and 2. a little section of stretchy coil.  (Use wire cutters to snip the bracelet into sections.)  With your fingers, open the jump ring and slip the coil onto it.

If your jump ring is smaller than, oh, say, your pinky nail,  you may need the help of some jewelry pliers to keep a grip on things.

Close the jumpring.

The next step is a tiny detail, but very cool.  After closing the jumpring - spin it halfway around inside the coil, so the gap is completely hidden.

Finally, add an earring finding.

Dude.  That's the whole tutorial right there.  If you have two ears, repeat for a second earring.

Done!!!

Adorable.  So fast, so chic and soooo cheap!

Hope you enjoyed the DIY for these little bitty jewels.  Leave me a comment and let me know, why doncha?

Source note: Drat!  Just as I finished this post, my normal source for the rainbow bracelets sold out.  (If you spot some online, let me know!)  But you can find some other nice ones here, here and here.

  8. Oh yeah! Spinning them is definitely the trick..... You're so creative! I'll probably not wear the earrings and the necklace together, it might be overkill. I'm hanging on anyway!
