Guess The Mystery Thing: Ring On Fire

Hi, everybody!  Today, a bold new Guess The Mystery Thing challenge.  (In case you're new here, it's my guessing game giveaway, open to one and all.  So stay!  Play with us!)

Check out this flaming red statement ring.

Isn't it wowser?  Perfect for...well, I'm not certain who it's perfect for, other than me.  The Red Queen?  Katniss Everdeen?  But even if it's not your style, it sure is a conversation starter.

"In my day, harrumph, Knaves would never take such liberties.  Good henchmen are so hard to find."  "Why, no, I don't recall how many heads I ordered off this morning; let me check my Blackberry."

Conversations like that.

More to the point, I am hoping it will be a fiendishly mysterious upcycle.  What is the origin of those twisty red curls?

Also available in yellow.

First person to guess correctly will receive a fabulous prize!  (Namely, your choice of one of these wild rings.  Or, if they are too kooky for your taste, a lovely surprise jewel chosen especially for you.)

How it works: leave your guess in the comments.  There'll be two winners: first correct guess and a random winner.  That's right, I said random winner - so even if you don't know (or think someone else already got it), enter anyway, you could still win.  If your guess is funny, it might make my Most Creative Honor Roll.

This giveaway is open to anyone, anywhere.  C'mon, join in!

THE ONE AND ONLY RULE

  1. I'm thinking you cut up plastic ketchup and mustard bottles and curled the plastic..or took apart yellow and red plastic picnic baskets and curled them, or Barbie watched the Hunger Games, and was so upset that it made her all the more hungry for hot dogs with ketchup and mustard..but the grill melted her hair so it stuck up in a curly mess and then she flew into a psychotic rage and put her finger in a light socket and her hair turned red.

  2. I was thinking they might be tassels for little kids' bike handles. Either that or you scared the bejeezes out of some hair ribbons.

  4. Hi! Stumbled upon your blog today and I LOVE it! My guess was also going to be ketchup and mustard bottles based on the red and yellow colors but someone already took that one. I honestly can't think of anything else they could have been!

  6. I have no clue. But, I do know you're going to win friends and influence people. You'll be the life of the party with the only fashion accessory that will open a wine bottle.

  7. When I first saw these I had a sense of deja vu thinking that you had been playing with carton strapping again. Then I remembered you were too creative to repeat and realized these must be shredded pieces from disposable plastic plates. Probably from a tea party.

  13. Yay! I love this one! Looks really 'stand out'!!! Hmm...is there anyway that it was a PET container and cut into stripe leave one edge uncut...and curl up all the rest? Wow! Just can't imagine how that idea come from, but seriously make me want to 'party' with it!!!

  14. That looks like the plastic strips you peel off to open milk bottles or kitty litter containers.

  15. I've really no idea what you've gone and used this time 'round. Then again, when do I? But I'm going to guess just the same! My son used to have this thin blue plastic craftmat that could easily have been cut into strips and swirled around to make blue flames... So, long-shot, I'm going to say red and yellow kids craftmats!!! Victory is mine! I feel it, hee hee.....

  18. Hmmm - in case my email doesn't show from clicking: dixonp at att.net (sorry - I post it that way so email trawlers don't get it! LOL)

  19. It's too small to be a mustard or ketchup container and the possibility of it just being curled up is negated by the wave pattern of the curls coming off of it. Ok. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that they are either...candy container tubes or those little plastic bowling pins you get in the playset.
Here's my email. Let's hope I'm right. LOL
