Guess The Mystery Thing: Squigglies!

Ready to play a new round of Guess The Mystery Thing?  (It's my crafty guessing game giveaway, and everyone is invited!)  This week's challenge: identify the mysterious secret ingredient in these upcycled purse charms:

What are those squigglies in the middle of the flower?  Here's a closer look...the squigglies in question are blue in the first picture and gold in the second.

First person to guess correctly wins a fabulous prize.  (Namely, your choice of one of these charms.)

How it works: leave your guess in the comments.  There'll be two winners: first correct guess, and a random winner.  That's right, I said random winner - so even if you don't know (or think someone else already got it), enter anyway, you could still win.  If your guess is funny, it might make my Most Creative Honor Roll.

This giveaway is open to anyone, anywhere.  C'mon, join in!

THE ONE AND ONLY RULE

1. UNLESS YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IS ONE CLICK AWAY IN AN ONLINE PROFILE, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS WITH YOUR GUESS.  (Fun fact: if you only THINK your email is visible in your profile, it probably isn't.)

Ready?  Set!  Guess the Mystery Thing!

UPDATE: THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED - THANKS FOR PLAYING, EVERYONE!  CHECK MY NEXT POST TO SEE THE REVEAL.

  2. There was once an evil alien, who loved to eat those wonderful curly fries from arbys. But to him they lacked a certain flavor... he tried all sorts of different sauces on them, and when none of them worked he was ready to give up and just force all life on earth to make the perfect sauce for him. But Mich, being so heroic, saved us all by taking the beautiful curly fries, covered in sauce, as part of a trade with the little ol' alien. She introduced him to ketchup. And the little alien went to aldi's and bought a whole case! He is now happily on the flight back to his home planet.

  3. I love this game!!! My guess is that they are the binding "wires" from spiral bound notebooks. Some now have the harder plastic spirals, too.

  4. They are either those cheap metal rings (like for kid birthday prizes and the like) coiled into the flower ringlets, or they're the smallest snake necklaces I've ever seen.

Snake necklaces for rebel brownies (Fae-folk). ^_^

  5. Hmmm, could it be that they are the center twisted part of a vinyl coat hanger? Though I can't say that I've ever seen them with such a nice finished edge.

  7. I agree with Dardian, I also think they're softened, coiled plastic swizzle sticks. Such cute little additions to your jewels!

  8. Maybe part of a hair ornament..barrette or hair pin? But say it isn't so Mich..somehow you have extracted the protein spirals (Google it) of Ronald McDonald...or you pulled the tentacles of a squid and painted them. After the castrating bands mystery thing nothing is out of bounds from creative Mich!

  9. Remember when you had to open a can of spam with a key on the side of a can, and it would peel off the metal around the can and it would wrap around the key. It's that.

  13. I was gunna say swizzle sticks, too! Hmm... maybe ribbon dipped in PVC? Oooh! I know, I know! You unrolled the toilet paper and paper towel tubes from your plastic Little Tykes doll's house. You'd been looking for a way to upcycle their trash, too. This works!!

  15. Telephone cord sounds good, but I'm used to it being all twisted up onto itself!!! :) Someone has already guessed that, so I'll say weird snot hanging out of Jolly Green Giants nose, when he has an infection...
