In focus.

I could introduce myself. My name is Michelle & I live in Los Angeles. Lapsed screenwriter. Dog person. Crazy Auntie. I design handmade jewelry, and I think this blog should have a focus. I'll try to give it one by posting the kind of pieces I most enjoy making: ones made from oddball, vintage or creatively re-purposed things.

Like, for example...

This is a secret-drawer pendant made from a matchbox. The drawer slides open and closed for treasure storage, photos, etc. Here's what I did:

I painted a matchbox black, and glued on a little embossed plate, made by pressing a rubber stamp into polymer clay. The stamp is one I found in a 100 Yen Store in Kyoto, Japan. (100 Yen Stores = paradise on earth.) I antiqued the clay piece with a bit more black paint rubbed into the crevices. I sealed it with some clear stuff from a spray can. I stole some rubber washers from my husband's workshop, and added them to a 10-cent cotton-thread tassel. I used an old shoelace as the necklace cord (because it matched the tassel color so perfectly).

Ta-da.

  4. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... I love your blog!!! Seriously...

I used to make jewelry, but never like this!!! Anyways, it took me 2 days to read everything, and I got a little behind in my chores. Yes... its all your fault!

Anyways, keep up the good work. BTW.. you should sell some of these items via pay pal. Or donate the funds to charity. :P
